Indian Head Massage

Practice room

£40 per session

Why not treat yourself to some quality “me time” with an Indian Head Massage? This wonderful, gentle therapy helps leave you refreshed, relaxed and tranquil. It may be performed in your home or office (travel expenses may apply) or in my practice room near Oxford. I don’t use oils, so there is no mess. You remain seated and fully clothed, and the session lasts approximately 45 minutes. This includes some talking beforehand and a brief time to “come to” afterwards. Then you’ll be ready to go on your way!

We’ll go through your medical history, current aches and pains, and what you hope to gain from the session before we start. I will then massage your shoulders, upper arms, neck, scalp and face.

Massage has been used throughout the Indian culture for thousands of years. Narendra Mehta developed a therapy he called “Champissage” (Indian Head Massage) which he first presented at the Festival of Mind, Body & Spirit in 1981. Indian Head Massage uses ancient skills collected from India, incorporated with more Western massage techniques. It can either stimulate or relax muscles. It can help soothe soreness and generate a feeling of wellbeing, both physically and mentally. As well as the physical contact, the massage also includes balancing of the three upper chakras (energy centres).

I originally trained with Narendra at the London College of Indian Champissage in 1992. Narendra was blind, but I remember how inspiring he was as a teacher. Sadly he passed away in 2011, but I retrained at the same school in 2013, with his wife and nephew. I gained my Diploma in 2014. The ethos of the school focuses on client wellbeing at all times. The spiritual essence of the training is uplifting and inspiring.

The massages had an immediate and dramatic effect, instantly making me more relaxed. My sleep improved as did my energy during the day. As well as those benefits I felt very much spoilt and cared for during the sessions making me feel as if I was being given a special treat. I would highly recommend your head massages to others with stress and sleep issues or to anyone who wants to be pampered. DJ

The massage sessions gave me the chance to stop and relax. As a result, I have noticed that I am much calmer, and even my daughter noticed this!  I would say that the whole experience has been very enriching. It reminded me of the importance of taking care of myself, and of allowing me to have some down time. EV

I have just finished a 5 week course in Indian Head Massage with Wendy and can only give her the highest praise possible. The massage itself was just wonderful but apart from that she is highly professional and I have no hesitation in recommending her in every way. DB
