More people than ever are dying at home (stats from gov.uk show 1000 more per week than pre-pandemic.) Not so long ago people tended to die at home as the norm, and it was a familiar part of life – not any more…
I’m Wendy Halford, a former Registered Nurse, living here in Wolvercote and I’m hoping to inspire people in my community to become more confident around death and dying. As a trained Soul Midwife, I help others, professionally and personally, to support people who are dying to live well till the end, using a holistic approach, often alongside medical initiatives.
I’m not here to tell you what to do! I see my role as someone in the background you can call on just to listen to you, to act as a sounding board, possibly to signpost, advocate or research for you, and empower you to reach into your own innate wisdom to support those you love and care for – it’s often the simplest things that make the biggest difference at the end of life.
Talking about death and dying is so much easier when you’re not in crisis – and as the saying goes, “talking about death won’t kill you”…! Do you feel like starting to explore?
I look forward to seeing you at this gentle evening ♥
